I have a dual processor opteron system. I'm wanting to find a good avi to mpeg converter that will take use of both processors and it should also use the sse2 instructions.

As for quality, I would like good quality, but it doesn?t have to super high since I?m taking sub-ed anime and converting that. As for speed, I would like it to be descent, ie not really taking 40+ minutes to convert a 30 minute episode. I don?t care if the software is free or not, I?m willing to spend money to buy the software if it is good. It would be nice if it could deal with overscanning, but I can still use avisynth to add a border.

Incase it really matters, I would like to use a dual pass VBR encoding scheme.
