Ritek G05 8x DVD-R Media read as 4x ...

My first try with the new Ritek Ridata G05 8x dvd-r.

Plextor px-708a with the latest firmware reads them at 4x max. DVD Identifier shows they are indeed G05 Ritek. Not such a big deal since I always burn at 2 or 2.4x anyway. I would like to however find out the raeson for this error. I recall a while back there was a discussion on this topic. I did a search but couldn't locate it. Any ideas? Thanks

I believe the Plextor PX-708A is rated at 8X for +R media only :)

I have the same problem with the Ritek G05. For some reason they only burn at 4x and are identified to burn at up to 8x by dvd identifier. I just assume it has something to do with my drive's firmware needing to be updated, but there is no newer version available from NEC.
