That title may have Sony's new ARcoSS protection on it. DVD Decrypter is able to bypass this protection so it may be worth a shot to use it to rip then open the files with Shrink to compress them :)

So movie only did the trick? I don't have that title so I'm just guessing here :)

I used shrink followed by decrypter in ISO mode for Van_Helsing.Worked fine at 2.4x write speed.
Did you select the directors comentary version in shrink"s re-author mode by mistake,as they're basically the same size.

when i checked it...it worked great :O))..thx again ya'll.. if anyone knows how to compress any more in automatic....please tell...some movies are already 100% compressed...some are only 47 % compressed....thx again

Hi all. :)

flabob, removing AC3 5.1 is usually a bad idea, as more often then not it will be the movie main soundtrack.
In general, AC3 2ch streams are commentaries of some sort. ;)

To decrease the required compression, have you tried doing movie-only backups?

I used Decrypter and Shrink with no problems. I do have a question though. Did the quality of this movie off of the orignal seem sort of "rough" to anyone else?

Yes, it did seem rough. But, after comparing the original and the DS 3.2 version, they had the same appearance. My guess is that the final output was something the production company wanted...a celluloid or "shot on old film" look. Kinda like the real b/w photos that were shot/developed on silvers; not the digicam look of today.

You're welcome, flabob , glad you liked the tut. :)

Keep in mind it is only an example, so simply drag the title(s) you want to include on your backup. ;)

Use DVD Shrink preview feature to identify what each title corresponds to.

Whether you make a movie-only backup, movie+extras, or a compilation of titles from different DVDs is entirely up to you. ;)

the best thing to do is do a reauthor on the van helsing disc, and go to the main menu...and drag that file to the dvd left side box...hit backup...and it will automatic do a encode...and will burn after that...wham you got yourself a van helsing dvd disc... for me i hate all the feature of the original...after that just stick in my new disc and play on my dvd player without all those delay...perfect burn everytime with new release movie..

sounds good Shrink... im still trying to find out what the titles are...

what i also found out..i put my dvd in.. i open DVD Shrink... i click on open disc...now, if i use full disc.... i can only get about 60 to 70 % after takeing out some streams , then i hit back up.... now if i use re-autor... i get about 75 to 85 % after takeing out streams..then i hit back up..i cant seem to get 100%

now after i decode movie to folder using full disc(takes about 22 minuets to decode)... then i make another folder for that movie...
and i use open files..i open that movie i just decoded...and it is 100%... then i back it up to folder i just made and it takes 10 minuets... is this normal..lol...it'like i have to decode it twice to get 100% and then i use no compression :O))

Before you burn your movie try using IFOEdit to view the video file under DVD play(make sure the original movie is not in the drive) this will let you see how your movie will play before you burn it. I know more of what to do now but it the past this saved me a ton of times from making coasters.
I use DVDshrink and IFOEdit, Recordnow to burn and sometimes I use DVDdecrypter.
