Hi,
I recently decided to make backups of movies. I bought a Sony DVD burner. I was looking for information on line and ran into this forum. I have been reading alot of the topics but unable to get answer to my problem so I am asking for help!!!!!
I have followed the guide from this site, also other guides and instructions but unable to burn movie succesfully.
Using DVD shrink I can get the copy on my hard drive but when I burn it, the copy doesnt work on my regular dvd player. Last night I tried to burn Kill Bill and when I tried to make a copy, i got error meesage, file too big insert a new disk with more space.

**** I read something about ASCI layer.. can someone please help me on this to make sure there is no issue with that on my computer???

***** A friend of mine told me that he got a chip installed with his dvd burner that does encryption/decryption.. Do I need another piece of hardware with the DVD burner to burn these movies?

I did Kill Bill with no trouble w/Shrink. What target DVD size did you select on Shrink preferences. Also what are you using to burn. Shrink has selections for Nero and DVD Decrypter.
Your regular player may not play the same format(+ or -).

Thanks for your reply...

I dont think i selected a size under shrink preference. I have Nero, I beleive DVD Shrink auto uses that program. After backing up, it asked me to insert a blank to burn. I didnt select any program manually.

Do you any other hardware installed? other then just the burner? Also anything changes to the ASCI layer? I am not sure what I am talking about, I just heard about these 2 things on the forum (ASCI LAYER) and from a friend(Chip).

Thers is no "chip".
Open Shrink, click on edit and select preferences. Make the target size DVD-5. I use DVD Decrypter instead of Nero but Nero should do the job. Get some RW discs till you get it right. Wasting discs can get costly.
You might check for a firmware update on your burner. Check the mfg website for the lastest firmeware. Or check this for an update, but be careful when flashing the update.

You might updtae youe ASPI drivers first. Here's a link to the download and insrtuctions:

Also, do not get cheap discs. Media is very important. I use Ritek Ridata. There are others list in the Media forum. Here is a great deal on discs,if you use +R.
