I have been burning DVD's for a couple of months with no problems and then one day I can't anymore. I have had multiple errors, from session fixation error, write error, can't write lead in. I have read numerous posts here for help and tried everything. I even reformated my hard drive and still I cannot burn DVDs. But I can burn CD's. I have a Benq 800a, latest Nero, lastest firmware. Here is the latest error log: PLEASE can someone help me!!! I feel like I am going crazy!!!!

Hi pokey24, welcome to aD,

Your media (Sony) is fine. I've asked our resident Nero expert to stop by and see -

Nero, as good as it is, does get "Flaky" at times and should be reinstalled.

If you are going to uninstall Nero you must do a "Clean uninstall".

Use the "Add and Remove programs" in your Control Panel to delete all Nero products listed there.

THIS IS IMPORTANT: You must use all of Nero's Clean tools to do a "Clean uninstall" before reinstalling otherwise you've only done ½ of the job.

Nero's General Clean Tool

Registry Checker and DriverClean Tool

InCD Clean Tool

The above MUST be used to totally eradicate Nero. THEN like all proper un-installations, we need to reboot our PC to "Flush out" the program.

Your "Tool" link: http://www.nero.com/us/631940828445001.html

When you reinstall Nero 6 DO NOT INSTALL InCD OR if you do, turn it off in msconfig (Better not to install it). It can and does cause problems with other programs.

Let's see what our expert has to say -

Pete

Hi Pokey24,

The log file looks fine as far as it goes, but its cut off right where the error message begins.

I can only recommend upgrading the firmware on the recorder, if you do not have the latest.

Try more than one brand of DVD media.

And then try another Recording software such as from NTI, or the CDCLone software, etc. This way we can rule out the software as the cause.

From what you describe, and what I've seen so far, I would think its a recorder that is in need of service. A good head cleaning would normally be recommended, but since it works with CDR media I doubt that is an issue for you.

Regards,

Craig

Sounds like your laser is failing. Not sure if you can buy laser only for your DVD burner. Try doing a search on Google.
