I just received an order of 100 discs that I ordered from shop4tech. The problem is they are completely unbranded and dont say Ritek on them anywhere. My packing slip list the description as "Ritek dvd-r ..." Did shop4tech substitute for their own in-house stuff? There arent even any label on the spindle or anywhere on the discs identifying them. Did I get "burned"?

I ordered the same thing, and got the same thing. 4 25 spindles on unbranded silver dvd-r's. If you use dvdinfopro to scan the media though, it's RitekG04.

It's the real deal...at least mine was.

That's what I Would suggest you do RofSilk, use/install DVDInfoPro and check the MediaID on the discs, if it is in fact reporting RitekG04/RG04 then they are authentic!

I assume this would be the case.

I always order Branded Ritek or Ridata. As the others suggested, use dvdinfopro.

I use Meritline for my media, excellent return policy and great prices with free shipping.

Yah I am in Canada so only generally order from Blankmedia.ca and I pay $61CDN for 100pk of G04 4x DVD-R. I havent bothered with G05 because even with my 4x I only ever seem to burn at 2x, just always feel that if you have the time, the slower the better.

Totally agree, I burn at 4x or slower, but these were cheaper than the 4x and I thought what the hell, why not? You don't HAVE to burn at 8x ya know, LOL ;>)

A 100 pack of Ritek Ridata G-04 for 36.00 using coupon code and free shipping. Itch, itch, itch. Shop4tech is a pretty good company I get stuff from them here and there, I still like meritline better though they have one of the best return policies around and they actually follow it.

Some places may still take them back. You should run DVDInfoPro on them to check the media ID and see what it comes back with!

Thanks for the all the help guys, I am running dvdproinfo now to see what the disc says they are. I got the 4x25 pack bundles from shop4tech. I hope they are Ritek. I got to admit I needed to use them right away so I opened of them and burned 8 discs so far with no problem. Fingers x'd.

HaiTac,

yeah aut0psy is right, I order all my stuff from Meritline and they'll not only take it back opened but subtract costs from ones that are used or missing. One of the reasons I use them.

It doesn't mean they aren't what they say when they aren't branded, but sometimes it does happen. I always buy branded, they're usually only a couple of cents more each and well worth the peace of mind.

Branded Ritek's are so dependable, it's nice to know if I'm having problems I don't have to worry about my media being the culprit :>)
