Hi I'm a newbie as you can probably tell.....but anyways, a friend of mine burned me a dvd he authored, but the menu links are dead, so its pretty useless in a stand alone dvd player.(It was even confusing trying to get it to work in my pc) How could i fix the menu links? I've searched for tutorials and haven't found any suitable ones. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do SOME of the menu links work for you?

Could it be that he stripped out the extras and that would render the menus useless?

I hope you have the "original" and are not being an ARR MATEY PIRATE..... :)

In re-author mode - as your friend has done your DVD in - you can't preserve the menue functions. They are just shown and nothing will happen when you try to use them. Use or "skipp" button on your remote to go to the main movie.
