DVD-R INSTEAD OF DVD-ROM ???

yo i just made my backup of GTA SA i dont have my SMDS yet tho just wondering it burned fine but 1 diference when i put the real GTA in on win xp it says on the disc DVD-ROM but on my backup is say DVD-R is that a problem??

nope that's fine...I believe the original just says DVD-ROM because you can't burn anything on to it, where as with the DVD-R, it recognizes it as blank media which you are able to burn info on there..
good luck with that backup! hope it works out for you!

yeh but i burned a game on to a ridata DVD+R but when it was 95% burned my knee hit the eject button so the burn was fucked up but it says DVD-ROM on it is that a prob are u sure
wong do your backups have dvd-r or dvd-rom on them

mcnoodle: I just popped in my backup copy of GTA SA and it actually does say DVD-ROM in the "My Computer" window...as for your knee hitting the eject button, I don't know about that one..doesn't sound good to me...
I noticed you used a +R, well, as long as your PS2 can read it I guess it's okay, but just a word of warning, some systems out there aren't able to read anything but -R's

hey mcnoodle, I'm using DVD-R's but they are showing up as "DVD-ROM" on my computer...I'm just looking under the "My Computer" window in XP. It shows an icon (picture of a disc) right beside are the words SAN ANDREAS, and then below the icon it says DVD-ROM

It might be the "book type". Nero supports setting the book type to "DVD-ROM" on select DVD burners. This setting has been known to make the disc easier to read in the PS2 although it is not required.

im burning another san anderas cause it frezzes at the sweet & kedl mission

find out the prob hte white disc that came with the flip top was wrong size so swapped it with my old 1 and i works perfectly
BTW i have backed up GTA:SA Pro evo 3 and 4 so i have tryed to back up 3 games and all were successful YESS
i was so nervous that it wouldnt work

Congrats on finally getting your stuff to work...enjoy the game...
about those cheap DVD's you're using, although they may work in your PS2, you gotta becareful what you put into your system, cheap quality disc will detiorate the life of your laser....it has to do with the reflectivity of the disc, and cheap quality DVD blanks has a negative effect on the laser...just becareful

so i shouldn't use cheap discs
bTW GTA some times it freezing for a few srcs then its ok and maps disappering is this happening to every 1 ??
