PC Freezes during Analyzing

Ok, I begin by apologizing because I'm quite new to this and trying very hard to understand. My brother "jake180" recently posted some questions for me, but I still haven't been able to correct the problem. 90% of the time I try to burn, my PC locks up in the Analyzing stage. I know my motherboard is an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe (in case this is a temperature issue as indicated) I went to attempt to download Motherboard Monitor (I think it was called) but just ended up lost throughout the site. Came across a program called MSD5 but I didn't think that was what I wanted (it kept referring to corrupt files and fingerprints - not temps.) I believe my DVD burner is MAXTOR 6Y160L0, and it's a "Touch System". I've recently just removed Shrink and Decrypter and reinstalled them both, but it didn't solve anything. If anyone is able to help it would be EXTREMELY appreciated, and I'm sorry if half of this doesn't make sense!
