... The best budget (not cheap!) media is RiDATA branded Ritek ...

... Here's a couple of deals for ya ... (assuming you're in the USofA)

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-132-344&depa=0

http://www.supermediastore.com/ritek-4xdvdrf.html

... By the way .. steer clear of Memorex .. sometimes you get good stuff .. but lots of times you get CMC stuff, which is garbage ...

I used to have Comp-USA DVD blank, the DVDcode is PRINCO, they are junk unless you have a burner that works with Princo brand.
If you take into account of all the coasters you throw away, time consume, suffering and frustrate then the cheapest DVD blanks is Prodisc (www.supermediastore.com)

(I am not affiliate with Prodisc nor suppermediastore).

I agree with catfreak. Best budget media Ritek Ridata or Prodisc. Steer clear of Memorex and retail store brand name media eg: Comp USA, Staples. The best media is Taiyo Yuden. Good media is Maxell, Verbatum, and TDK.

I have burnt alot of different kinds of media and my favorite are Rima Taiyo Yudens and Newegg Ritek Ridata DVD+R's. I have tried several spindles of Ritek Ridata DVD-R's and have had no luck if you have read some of my other threads. The Ritek DVD+R's are some of the best I have seen if they are RICOHJPNR01.

Mort81 is right on all counts! But beware of Ritek, I've had some excellent Riteks and Ridatas and some real crap with lots of coasters. You don't know until you get them. My advise is to forget the budget stuff, spend the extra $.25 and get something reliable (Maxell, Sony (ricohjpn01), Verbatim or the tops Taiyo Yuden) If you get a couple of coasters with the cheapos, where is the savings? Not to mention the time wasted (an hour or so a burn) and agravation.

My personal experience with ritek media is they are all crap, at least they won't work on my burner most of the time. Maxell is good, and my personal favorite (many will disagree) is Kodak, they are cheap, and I have burnt over 500 of them and have not had a single coaster, or any playback problems whatsoever.

Riteks are good, but I prefer Prodisc media (media code S03). I've burned over a hundred, and they all work flawlessly. I buy all my blanks from blankmedia.ca
