From motorola.com:
"At this time mobile PhoneTools currently is only compatible with Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP. Please note that Windows 98 and NT 4.0 do not support USB."

I checked the windows update, i don't see any updates that look relevent. Also, I currently have other hardward (scanner and modem) plugged into my USB ports, and they are working fine.

Go to device manager and under Modems look for motorola USB modem (make sure your phone is plugged into the computer). Then right click and uninstall. After the uninstall unplug the phone and replug it in. Windows will detect it and ask for drivers, point it to the p2k drivers.

that's what I thought you meant, and under other devices it shows my phone - motorola phone V635. I right clicked, chose properties-reinstall driver-...select the driver you want-modem-motorola-then I get stuck, there are no USB modems there, none of them seem right. When I click "have disk" and try to pick the p2k driver I can't path to it.

no, I have the choice between "search for a better driver than the one your device is using now. (recommended)" and "display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want."

motodude, I have the driver installed, and I tried to install 3.23 again. I got the same error window telling me I can't install in this version of windows. Is it time to give up and buy a new computer? Or do you have any other suggestions?

Kaybrat, I think you get the error because Win98 does not have good USB support. If you do not want to go to XP and want to keep the familiarity of Win98, upgrade to WinME. WinME has worked well for me for all programs I throw at it. You should be able to find a vendor selling it for a reasonable price.

Thanks Ochuts. One of the main reasons I don't want to upgrade to XP is because I won't be able to run my MS office from it. I will look into WinME and see if it helps.

Which version of Office are you using? You do NOT have to have Office XP to be able to run Office on WinXP. Just about any version will work on WinXP.

Dumb Question. My phone will not backup the Phonebook any more. OK, I have 1 good backup...a .csv file. I can open it in Excel. But, How can I open it in MPT and have it display on the left phonebook panel?
After all, what good is a backup of the phonebook (.csv) or Contacts (.mdf) if there is no way to open them?
What am I missing here?
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!!
