Hey Mossy - or some other helpful soul. I have a newbie question, apparently so dumb that nobody has asked yet (I did look :+)

Anyway, I just picked up a Moto v66 to use on a trip to Europe, and I already have a v60, so would like to Xfr the phone book, etc. Have been looking on Ebay at data cables, and notice that there are serial cables, parallel cables, and USB cables (including ones with drivers to config the USB port to a Com port).

Help?? Which should I buy? And, will I need/want the full 3.23 version of Mobile Phone tools for a v66?

Sorry to be so hopeless, but... appreciate the help. Thx!

Hey I have a v265, I followed the step by step instruction for MPT, but after it finished downloading the LiveUpdate and tried to install the updates, it gives an error saying "Bad Registry Key name! Please reinstall liveupdate application"

I made sure that I did the 2.21 update before starting the program for the first time...

Anyone know what's going on?
(All I want to do is just upload ringtones onto my v265...obviously I've been having problems not recognizing the phone in 3.11)

Edit: I tried it on my friend's computer, and it works. But when it's trying to do the Device Detection Wizard in MPT, it goes:
*Modem identification
*Opening Motorola Comp Modem
Not accessible or in use by another application

But obviously it's not in use. Does anyone know how to deal with this?

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I'll give it a shot. I installed the 3.11 version of Mobile phone tools and the motorola usb modem driver from the links on this site. It wouldn'r recognize my phone and I almost gave up. I finally found the menu and settings (or was it setup) by clicking on the picture of the button on the phone that didn't look quite like my v220. If I tried to install the phone it wouldn't go anywhere, but I used the other selection and tried the modem instead, then finally entered the model of the phone, and it came up with a modem checkout dialog and it then worked perfectly except that it wouldn't save ringtones in the melody studio. I never got this to work on this computer, but it does on my desktop, but it will never recognize my phone. I make the ringtones on my desktop, and email to myself and install them on this laptop. Crude but better than buying them.

Hey all, I have a motorola v300 phone, and i was just wondering why after i DL the phone tools, install it, go into the Multimedia studio, and try to Transfer photos and sounds to my phone. I click the transfer button and nothing happens, a lil box comes up for maybe 1/4 of a sec, but then nothing... I checked my phone in the picture section...but i didnt see anything.

Also: when i try to transfer the sounds, it says "Unsupported format - no conversion possible" Why is this when Im pretty sure that my phone supports this type of audio file?

Thanks~

If you want to run the mobile phone tools v3.11h with bluetooth in Windows XP SP2, here are the steps I did with my Motorola v551:

First use your BT dongle software or built in BT dongle software to
pair with your phone.

1. Disable any modem in device manager temporarily
2. Run mobile phone tools. Forget using the wizard, cancel and cancel until a picuture of a phone pops up.
3. Select the menu button on the phone that gives you a drop down menu
4. Select, Set Up, General Set Up
5. Choose the communication tab and select change modem
6. The wizard that pops up does work (Make sure your phone is set to
Bluetooth Find Me)
7. Select the standard modem over Bluetooth link and allow the wizard
to do the rest, you'll need to select your model of phone.
8. In Device Manager, if you have stardard modem and standard modem over Bluetooth link, delete the stardard modem entry.
9. Wait a few seconds at the end and you should see battery meter and signal strength of your mobile phone.

Good luck...
