I'm trying to back up my DVD's. I bought DVD RW to burn my copies onto. the cloner works great, except when I try to play those back ups on my DVD player (connected to the TV) it can't read them. Should I be using a different type of blank DVD? My DVD player is about 4 years old and doesn't play every format, do a need to purchase a new one or will a DVD R work on it?
thanks

You really should only use RW's if your testing.

check your players compatibility here: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers .. find which media works best.

Ok I checked that site and it said that my Toshiba sd 1600 would play DVD R formats. Does that mean if I burn a DVD onto a DVD R, it will play it? sorry if this seems like a dumb ?

You need to re-check and see if it is -R or +R or both. Also, in past threads Toshiba players are not that compatible :)

If I was to purchase a new one, what would you recommend?
