Just bought 100 of these bloody things from SVP Communications catalogue number DV 3164. I've always had good burns with RiDisc's but every single disc I am trying with these are not burning at all giving me power calibration errors like AN31 and PRINCO branded discs used to do before I switched brands. I know the drive is OK because I've just burned a Datawrite 8x DVD+R PRODISC-R03-03... seems strange the Ritek's being branded as 4x when they are no such thing.... just send an email to SVP so gotta see what they have to say about it

Do you mean Ridata 4x? I've never heard of Ridisc.

AMD Thunderbird 1.2ghz, Asus A7V-133 mbo, 512 mb ram, Pioneer 108, All In Wonder 9600XT.

No RiDisc branded should I say. I have previously used these discs with no problems whatsoever but none of these discs want to be burnt. I have just checked with DVDInfoPro and there is no write descriptor for 4x! Full info:

Are you using Nero ? If so, here's the FAQ for that error:

Nero.com/us/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#9" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.Nero.com/us/FAQs_Error_Messages.html#9

I started getting this message after installing XP SP2. I backed it out and all was well again. I've no idea what's going on sometimes - this technology is riddled with incompatibilities.

Like I said the errors I am getting are the same if I use some crappy AN31/PRINCO shite. The Datawrite 8x work perfect...

Both DVD Decrypter and Nero sense the discs as being 2x speed btw

Whats more worrying is that they are supposedly A Grade! These are the disks in question:

never had any problems with them before so yeah they may be a dodgy batch and a large batch at that because all 100 of those I ordered are rated at x2 and WILL NOT BURN! Still waiting on a reply from SVP...

Ridisk is NOT a Ritek own brand, Ritek A grade is Ridata and A/B grade is Arita.

I may be wrong, but I think ridisc is one of the brands produced by a firm that is infamous in this forum.

Ritek and Ridata "branded" are the best brands. The Ridisc is lower quality second hand media. They just "call" it "A" grade.

Stay with Ridata "branded" if you want your money's worth.

Just tried burning at 1x with no luck. These things are pissing me off, well once bitten twice shy I'll be buying this junk no longer even if they are "Ritek G04" which I have a few doubts about considering the 4x media is only detected at 2x...

Issue resolved with SVP, I'm RMA'ing them and getting some Datawrite 8x DVD+R Prodisc-R03-03's in exchange which are the other brand I regularly use. I don't think I'll be touching these purple tops again for a while, anyone have suggestions for G04 media instead of ^^^^^^^^^^? Cheers
