Hello all, I just have some questions about DVD burning.

Say, for example, I have a .mpg file. Is it possible to convert that somehow so it is possible to play on a standard stand-alone DVD player? Do I need to convert something?

The same goes for .avi files, and etc. I have a DVD burning program called Roxio which came with my computer. Can I just start dragging these .avi, .mpg, .wmv, whatever files into where it says, and press burn and have them be able to play on my DVD player?

I know nothing about converting/ripping/whatever, and all websites I have been too have been talking about different things or were just too confusing for me to comprehend all the DVD terms. :(

There has to be a simple way of doing it, can someone please tell me what?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Probably not Mike especially using Roxio. Roxio is the town "Sleeze" and no one else around town wants to get within "sniffing" distance of her -

That "InCD" thing you mentioned makes most the decent programs buckle up and stop functioning. Most members here have deleted it. (Even that's hard to do.) If you wish to uninstall it let me know as there is an additional proggy you'll need to scrape Roxio off of your PC's walls. (Lol, nasty picture that, Huh ?)-

For ease, try Nero's NeroVision -good for a 30-day free trial -

Load Nero up then go back to get NeroVision -

You also might like to try dvd Santa -

There are better proggys BUT I don't want to overload you - try those and if you want to, come back and we'll hook you up with others -

Cheers,

Pete

Hi! Thanks for the prompt reply, and thank you for referring me to those programs.

Out of those programs, which do you recommend is best for burning stuff like .mpgs onto a DVD so it plays on my DVD player? Do I have to convert the .mpgs to another format as well?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi there Weirdo007, welcome to aD,

Here ya go, to remove all types of Roxio tentacles and tendrils with Roxio Zapper -

Find it here:

Once you've done that, reboot your PC to "flush everything out of your PC's system :)

Cheers,

Pete

ugothim, welcome to aD,

If your only option is Nero, use NeroVision -

BTW, Did you try our "Search function" yet ?

Cheers,

Pete
