I downloaded a 700MB .avi file. The file opens in Media Player, but there is no sound (I have the DiVX codec installed on my machine, I don't know if that matters or not...).

My question is, is there a possibility that the sound is on there, but for some reason won't play on Media Player in conjunction with the video? Again, the video plays fine. And, if so, how do I determine that and make a useable audio+video file out of it?

My plan is to take a few of these files (they are part of a series), convert them to MPEG and make a DVD out of them. If there is no sound, I obviously want to get a different version of the file, but I want to know if it is possible to salvage this one before I go through the hassle of finding and downloading a whole new file.

Any suggestions?
