has anyone actually achieved a backup of an original gta san andreas disc that hasn't had the problems of disc reading errors, skips & slow loading times. if so could you tell us what media you used and what program you used to backup and burn? thanks.

I used datawrite yellow (Ritek Go4) disc and burned at 2x using DVD Decrypter and my nec nd2500a burner.
Got a perfect backup.

TDK 4x DVD+R burned at 2x using DVD Decrypter using my Sony DRU-510A burner gave me a perfect copy.
Ritek G05, no matter the burn speed, gave me disc read errors while playing the game.

I have the exact same burner, but not the same discs my discs where actually more expensive than ritek (10 pounds for 5, may have been diddled, but needed a fix quick to check out the ps2 backup scene). My backup sometimes takes a few attempts to boot, graphics dissapear and it loads slowly when going in and out of some buildings.
Ozzy1, you used Ritek G04. If I use that will I experience those problems? PS2 V5/6, SwapMagic dvd v2.0 + slide. Seeing as I have the same burner if I get the same discs as you it should work perfect.
The graphics problem bugs me the most, but a guy I know has the real one and graphics dissapear on it too, it's a pain in the ass in missions.

I'd say you should because my ps2 is a version 5 aswell. And i use swap magic and slidecard.
I have never once had any slow loading times and the buildings have never dissapeared.

I made two backups with ritek g05 that lagged and had slow loading times. I heeded the advice of some people and got some Maxell 4x DVD+R and it works perfect. I selected 2x on decrypter (even tho it actually burns at 2.4x) and it's all good so far (knock on wood). So try that.
