I have a mpg movie. i only want a section of it. my question is what can ya'll recommend out there what will give me just chunks of a movie?

i would prefer, cheap/free, small, and low resource (i.e. memory, hd space) based.

Mpeg-1? Use TMPGEnc's merge & cut tool.
