Xbox needs supports please help

My Xbox try's to load up, but when it almost reads the game the green circle starts blinking red, and the screen says xbox need costumer support, sounds like the hard drive is shot(makes a really loud noise), its not modded, so i was wondering if i put a new harddrive in there does it need to be blank??, or can if have a version of windows on it, or does it have to have special drivers if anyone has had this problem before please help me, thankx Jon, can also reply to my email at (jgamustang@yahoo.com)

To change the harddisk you'll have to mod your xbox first because the HD must be locked with the Mobo and that won't be possible if you don't have a backup of your EEPROM
