I have no idea on how to fix your problem but just wanted to say that the Plextor 712A is an awesome burner. It won first place in PC MAG for best quality burner and it's the only burner that can add an extra 210 MB on a standard cd-r. You can burn 912MB CD-R thats awesome!!

hey boblazaar, looks like you started the burn process at 8x. You might want to try 2.4x or 4x. A lot of errors can occur at 8x. I never go over 4x.. You may want to check your media. I use verbatim. Ritek ridata branded is preferred by most, there are many threads on this topic- which is very important. see ya. "quality media+slow burn = fewer errors"

boblazaar is already using ritek discs as stated above . there is a newer version of Nero 6 available that may help correct your problem also a firmware update for your burner may help also .
have you tried slowing the speed down to 4x instead of 8x ? alot of people have had write errors at higher speeds . lower is generally better quality with less write errors .

Thanks for the replies. I burned a disk at 8x no problem using Alcohol. Updasting Nero as we speak! The firmware for the Plextor is at 1.05 so I think that is the latest!

Updated Nero and burnt on a Verbatim DVD+ disc and it was a breeze. Quite a difference from the Liteon actually! I guess I got a bad spindle of Riteks!

Thanks for all the help!

THE ANSWER
I had the same problem, it's the cd's or dvd's not a hardware that is the problem. My problem was with princo DVD-R a bad batch it there manufacturing. Get new disks and try again (with different batch number).

The Plextor 712A is a brilliant drive, but I see that you are using Nero - sorry that is a mistake, remove Nero from your system all together. Go get yourself some good software like CloneDVD ; DVD2One ; and AnyDVD. when these are set up correctly you will have good results every time. Please also bare in mind that you also need to use good quality media like Verbatim (MCM) not (CMC) disc's.

Need more help let me know...
