I was just wondering whats the story on having to patch backed-up online ps2 games. Do you need to patch them for the whole game to work properly or just the online features. Im not worried about having online function in my backed-up games since i do not have network play. Do i still need to patch them though?

Nope. You do not have to patch them unless you want to play them online.
