First of all do I have to have a modchip for my playstation 2 to play backup copies of my games? If I do, what is the best type to get? Also, I have seen some of the USB modchip boxes. Are they ok to use. I am using dvddecryptor and clonedvd2 to make the backups.

1. yes you need a modchip
2. Don't get the usb or no solder chips
3. if you don't want to have a chip soldered in your ps2, get a fliptop and swap magic.

What's wrong with a no-solder or USB chip?
Please elaborate for a N00B. I have HDAdvance but am considering adding a chip and want the least hassle.
Thx

They have a tendency to blow fuses in your ps2. The fliptop does the same thing they do, but it is easier and safer.

well, i like the fliptop the best, but if you don't want to spend an extra $15, get the slide card. http://www.consolesource has the fliptop and swap magic for under $40 shipped.
