I have been having allot of problems with my PC crashing lately and have figured that it must have someting to do with me playing videos on my PC, coz it crashes or comes up with errors almost evertime.

I have a P4 at 2Ghz running Win98SE with 512MEG DDR ram and 140Gig total Hard drive space and a GeForce 3 Graphics card

So I dont think the problem is hardware related.

I am pretty sure it may be done to several players not liking each other or a bad codec or something like that.

I have Windows MediaPlayer (The one that was on the installation CD not the latest version) and DivX Player 2.0 Alpha installed. They both seem to play up.

So I what I am wondering is what Codecs should I have installed and how can I find out what I have already and where do I get newer ones also What version of Direct X should I have and again how do I find out what I have and where do I get a newer version, and what players do you recommend.

And if anyone can suggest anything else I would also appreciate it.
