I'm browsing the forums looking for a similar answer, maybe I can shed some lite on my issue and help the original poster as well
When trying to make copies of copies, be it compressed copies of backups or copies of home movie projects I've done, the system will not always read the Dvd in the drive. Opening My Computer shows it as empty and I have to open and close the dvd drive multiple times in order to get the drive to read the contents of the Dvd.
Just had a brainstorm on it. I am running anydvd in the background and seem to get an anydvd error sometimes when trying to read the disc. Since I don't need anydvd running for a preburnt copy, I'll turn it off and try again.
I'll post later with my findings
(post testing)
After years of research, cancelled grants, and a complete 129 page thesis I have uncovered the following:
I exited out of the Anydvd program that was running in the background 100% of the time and tested 4 burnt/copies of Dvds, 2 of the 4 were well known for not reading prior to this test (one home movie and one back up copy of a movie I own) and the other 2 had never been installed in the Dvd drive so results were unknown.
Results were positive! 3 of the 4 were recognized within seconds. The 4th needed to open and close the Dvd drive once and then it was also recognized.
Now if I can only figure out my WinxpSP2/Router problem, but alas, that is for another forum. New to these forums, love the user friendly format and the multitude of knowledgable and helpful people. Thanks for your/my help. :)
I hope this helps jknakes with his problem
