Mpeg to dvd problems help

I use Nero Express 5.5 and i cant seem to burn mpeg files onto blank dvds i can do it with normal cd-r's
though i should be able to select a bunch of mpegs and put them onto a blank dvd but the only file types it will except are .bup .ifo and .vob files can somebody please help me out
