Don't even need to read all of the posts, I can deffinitly believe that Microsoft does spy on its users :)
Well for 2 reasons I say this,
1. Product testing and feedback. This can be a legitamate claim as they may wish to know how thier product is being used for future reference for other products. The downside to this is, it is an invasion of privacy if the user does not allow or request this. Something I do not approve of.
2. I hate Microsoft the coperation...

Back to what was said earlier, so even if you turn off the mod chip you can't get on live if you've tried with it on before?

I did a google search for it but I think it's Xbconnect.com or something like that. If your Xbox is modded this is the only way to get online with your Mod enabled,or you can disable the chip to get on Xlive. I've heard from a couple of mod sites that they are coming out with an Xbox case that holds 2 or 3 hard drives including your original Xbox HD and a toggle switch to disable the chip. Apparently, this case is only out in Japan if i'm correct. The only drawback to xbconnect is that they only have a select amount of new games, I know Halo 2 is on there because I was playing it online with the system link option.

i don't know know taht i think about it and i have an xbox i really don't need a mod chip. i mean i play 1 game at once and then after i beat it trade it in, and considering some games like halo2 you would hold on to cause of live ut i mean games don't really cost that much money and there even less used as far as the credit card thing on live, halo 2 comes with a 2 month subscription, and if i needed one i could borow one, but hey you never know it's all irellivent

To all the people who have a modded xbox and want to play online.....
1. Xlink Kai- is a very popualy alternative to Xbox live being able to play system link enabled games for free anywhere in the world in a few simple steps
URL: http://teamxlink.co.uk/
2.XB Connect- is pretty much the same as Kai but i found it harder to set up.
URL: http://www.xbconnect.com/
or if you are not using the Winblows ;) operating system u can go for a program called Aquaduct.(i dont know the URL.. search google).
and the best thing about these three tunneling programs is that there free and 100% LEGAL cheers :D

if you have the chip, and you want to play online on XBConnect, do you still have to own the game to be able to play or can you play with the copy thats copied on to your hard drive?
