I have a generation 2 ps2 with dms 3 modchip and lately i have been having a hard time getting newer games to work (original or dvd-r) the originals sometimes load or not at all and the dvd-r's don't even load up at all. Yet i can pop in an older original and dvd-r like tiger woods 2004 or 007nightfire and the system boots the game up no problems often on the first try. The newest game that i have that does boot up (often on first or second try) is burnout 3. gta san. andr, wwe smack vs raw and mkdeceptions won't boot up (san andr. will after about half dozen time and that only the original copy). i have flash updated my chip with latest flash and still nothing. Iam wondering if this is a laser issue (still has the original), but if so why will all my old game still work so well? The dvd-r media i use is verbatim(primarily) and sony. my dvd burner is an i/o magic dual format double density up to 16x burner( and yes all my dvd-r games were burned at the slowest speed for the burner which is 2.4x) Thanks to anyone for their input.

ps-i have cleaned the lens of the laser both with retail products and by taking the cover off and following guidlines disscused within this forum.

I having the same problem too with gta, mortal kombat, jap berserk, splinter cell pt. they get to the ps2 logo screen then nothing.
