DVD Burner Stuck in Region 1

Can some help me changing the region on my dvd burner?
I have 1 DVD player and 1 DVD burner in my computer the burner is set to region 1 and the player on region 2. I have gone into the device manager and tried to reset the region on the burner too 2 but I get the notice that I need to be the admin(which I am) or put a region 2 DVD in the player (which I did) and have so far not had any success. I was using Power DVD as the DVD player and even that progam would not let me set the region. Any Ideas?

DVD Drives have a limit to how many times you can change the region and after those are used up the drive will be locked to the last region it was set to.
There are hacked Region Free firmwares that you can install to get by this at http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
or you can use a software solution such as DVD Region Free here http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm :)

I use AnyDvd by SlySoft to overcome region lockout. I preferred it to DVDIdle.
Each to ones own. Give 'em both a whirl on trial & make your choice!

I was hopeing since windows still tells me that I have 2 more changes coming that there was another solutuion other that buying more software.

thank you for the help but one question How do I determine which firm ware I need? I know the model numbers of both my drive but there is a lot to chose from found winenquiry this should tell me right?

Reflashed the DVD ROM Drive and still wil not let me chage the region

After you flash to a region free firmware there's no region to be changed because the drive doesn't look for region codes anymore. Have you tried ripping different region discs in it yet?

You kind of lost me. By player you mean the ROM correct? Are you saying you still can't use the ROM to rip a different region DVD without having to change the region setting?

Soory about that. No I have 2 DVD ROM 1 burner 1 burenr the burner is set fro region 2 but the rom is 1 I want to back up strait to from the rom to the burner

Try the Program DVD REgion Free.

I downloaded it after my region code was set and I was still able to play other region coded DVD's
It does work
