any problems on rading dvd+r disks?

try to use ridata dvd-r. i have a v4 and have backed up 20+ games with that.

I have a version 4 and it only reads +r's.

Your Model number is different than mine, and I have read that some PS2 v4s read both, some do not. So you will have to test it out on yours.

i have a v5 ps2 with a messiah mod and all my backed up games are on dvd-r... and work 100% perfectly!!!

you may have a point that older machines only read -r but the majority of the new ones read both + and - formats in both r and rw...

to dg3elite, it is quite possible that your v4 has an incompatibility with +r disks...
the simple solution? experiment with -r media and see if you can get it to work...

if not, look at upgrading your chip (as this may limit your machine to certain disks, i.e. only cdr and not any dvd format) or look at upgrading ur ps2 to a newer version that will read +/-r disks

my apologies, i meant to say that only the V5 and up can read BOTH +R and -R media. the V3 cannot read +R at all, and i'm sure the V4 cannot either as it is very similar to the V3.
