I use the dvd-shrink and dvd-decrypter to make backup copies of my dvd's. Most of them play fine, but I have some that start skipping or freezing up when the movie gets to the last 5-7 chapters.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

What brand of media are you using? And why don't you try setting the target size in Shrink to 4300.

I am using Maxell DVD-r, on a Sony Viao desktop.

I too have been using Maxell dvd-r and have been quite happy with them. What are the media ID's on them?http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/ Try this link to read the media ID if you don't have one yet. I also set my target size to 4280.
