I think so.
When the prices drop down to current single layer media levels. It will be a no brainer to get better quality backups with no compression.
And by then we'll be drooling for the next big thing Bluray and HDDVD.

Nope. Not even close. Blu-Ray is the next media technology of choice because it can hold 20+ GB of data on one DVD size disc, which is ideal for the high-definition revolution. Supposedly, it's already on the market but who can afford it.

Current Blu-Ray recorders are not a good idea, the format for Blu-Ray "pressed" movie disks has just been decided and the current players/recorders will not be able to handle them.
Comment from the manufacturers (Sony), was that only cutting edge enthusiasts would be buying the present Blu-Ray kit, and they would all be aware of this limitation.

Yeah, right, looks like the customer is the beta tester once again.......
