NEC1300A gone blind !

I've been using my NEC1300 for almost a year now with no difficulties but the other night,mid way through a burn the power in my neighbourhood went out and obviousley my PC switched off.

Now my burner won't recognise any DVD I insert,wheather it's an original movie or a DVDR.

Having said that it does still 'see' cd's and cdr's and will burn cdr's.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

just a guess but maybe the firmware in your drive got corrupted, it might be worth re-flashing the drive

Sorry for the delay in respones but I've been away for a bit.

If it was a surge wouldn't it have effected other things ?

Also tried re flashing the firmware but with no luck.

Any othe suggestions apart from buying a new one !

Go buy a NEC 3500A for $67 (that's the total including shipping). If you buy this you'll be ready for the future of tomorrow!!!

BTW just go to www.videohelp.com and look in the upper right hand corner and you'll see some other drives you may be interested in along with the NEC 3500A
