i 2nd the pioneer 108 as a good drive .. just made a backup of San Andreas with "Mr. DVD 8x -R" (cheapest i could find) at 12x by accident , i left the speed at max in Alcohol 120% and it used 12x instead of 8x ??..too late to stop once i realised... anyway the backup plays perfectly just like my original

hey devilhunt, i own a pioneer 108 as well..... but my burning of ps2 games arn't that sucessful, i know u use ritek or tdk for media, but do u use +r's or -r's? and which program u prefer to burn with? most of my games takes forever to load (to a point that its not playable)..... i would guess its a media problem huh?

PS2 modded with AR2v2 (now also with SM3)
16x pioneer 108 dual-layer DVD
DVD Decrypter, Alcohol 120%
**People SM3 solves all problems!**

my plextor px-504a (+ drive) is perfect, not 1 coaster, its only 4x but it doesnt matter as you should burn your games at the slowest speed. I use bulkpaq media, i got 50 disks for £8!

Which One Today?

@Cryptix
On selecting a drive that would be totally your choice but if you were to ask the majority of experienced users they would tell you that the NEC ND-3500AG is your best choice, not only because it is a 16X DVD-\+R 4X Dual Layer writer but the amount of unofficial firmware support that the drive has, as is the drive's different firmware is still being tested and modded for highest quality possible while overspeeding the media for example Ritek G04 4X DVD-R at 12X and so on. If you are interested here's a two good links for firmware modding aka beta firmware [Liggy and Dee's beta firmwares] for NEC ND-3500

[Quikee 3500AG 2.18 Version 2 Firmware] for NEC ND-3500

@cumbuckit
I would recommend using TDK DVD-R 4X MID (TTG01) or 8X MID (TTG02)
