Tried that. It copies, but won't play back. Got to be something with going from -r to +r. Any other suggestions?

Bubbyt, Roxio Easy DVD Copy works great for me, but I don't think there's a trial version available. If you want to check it out, go to www.roxio.com.

Never been a Nero fan myself, but as you can see I'm a newbie and seems like everyone else likes Nero.

hello, bubbyt

you could also start out try DVD Shrink and DVD Decypter to start out with if you like. i think there pretty easy programs to learn with. and there free aswell. i'm still using them. see no need to buy
other software for $$$$$$$$$$$$ there are many people here to help you aswell. you can download them from any of these pages on top just click "software"
what you can do is use DVD Shrink first then DVD Decypter.......
many people like Nero also

Run, would he still need DVD Decypter since these are home movies? Probably a dumb question, but as you can see I'm a newbie also.

As I write this, I'm trying DVD Decypter and DVD Shrink for the first time. Decrypter went without a glitch (or so it seemed), and now I'm in the process of creating files with Shrink. So far, so good. Shrink is at 29% and counting........

Run, do you use Nero to burn?

first question i don't know

second question: when your doing this don't do anything else on you CPU

third question: i don't use Nero beause dvdshrink and dvddecypter work fine for me, and they are free$$$
maybe later i'll get Nero but, this combo is great

the way i do this is
put dvd in, open up shrink, let it analize it, when all the imformation comes up, i hit re-author, pull only the movie(usally the biggest number in the lists)
hit backup, then set back and watch, dvdshrink and dvddecypter will auto together,
when shrink and the analize is finished dvd decypter
will auto start on it's own..

hope i helped you.
