Hi. This holiday season I plan on picking up a modchip for my PS2. I bought a launch PS2 (so it is probably V1 or something).

I was looking at the DMS4 Pro ModChip for 70 dollars at modchip.com

I want something that will play my back-up PSX games and my PS2 games. I don't want to do the swap trick. I don't mind soldering.

Is this the best modchip I can buy? Is this a good modchip?

Thanks for any help! ^_^

The only difference that I know of right now between the DMS4Pro ($70) and the DMS3+ ($40) is that the DMS4 has automatic media recognition, while the DMS3+ makes you hold a button for a couple of seconds for PSX or DVD movie. It autoboots in PS2 mode.

I have a DMS3+ and I've not had a problem with any properly burned PSX or PS2 game I've tried.

Good luck.
