bad image when converting avi to dvd

Hi! I need some help. I've tried converting my avi files to dvd to be able to watch the movies on my television, following the guidelines in the tutorial, and I get the same bad image in each one: the image itself is ok, but I have 3 vertical red dotted lines and one horizontal one running through the whole movie. Could anybody tell me why this happens and what I can do about it?
