Hey I used ScubaPetes directions (and where very detailed and helpful) Forum (thread was DVD-R for newbies) on How to use DVD Shrink and Decyrpter and i made a back-up sucessfully of Seabiscuit but the i tried to make a back-up of "A sent of a Women" w/Al Pacino for my girlfriend and it said "THIS DISC IS NOT FORMATTED TO PLAY IN THIS REGION" I noitcied after I downloaded it from DVD shrink it asked my what Country i was from i X-ed out of it and figured it didnt matter. Could that be the Problem? What country do i need to be from then? lol...It didnt ask me what country I was from for seabiscuit but it did for this "A sent of a Women". Is that it? I have a screen shot of what is said but it wont let me paste it here I can email it to you if you email me.... so....thnx for the help......
P.S. Email is

Your gonna get in trouble.. LOL yer not allowed to post emails on here. Im not 100% sure about your question. Did you complete the back up and then try to watch it and thats when it said "Not formatted to play in this region"? Or was it prior to actually having it backed up? If you used Shrink then right after you hit "Back up" go to the little tab that says "DVD Region" and make sure "Region Free" is checked. That should solve your problem if I understood the question right.

Indeed ... read the Forum Rules.

Next time, either choose your region or check region free in Shrink.

I went back to do that and (ill type out since cant do screenshot) said:

"DVD appereas to be R.C.E. protected:
If you CORRECTLY speficy the region for which this DVD was intended DVD Shrink will remove R.C.E. Protection.

If you leave the R.C.E. coding unmodified this DVD will not play in a region-free DVD player, with region code other than the intended region."

Then i can choose to either:

****All exaclty copied besides spelling****

Specify Region or to Leace R.C.E. coding unmodified

If i choose Specify Region my options are:
1)USA canada
2) West europe Japan South Africa
3)South East Asai
4) Australia spanish America
5)Russia East Europe Africa
6) China

1st i tried Leave R.C.E. coding unmodified and didnt work then i tried #2 and it didnt work and it is up again!

AAAH! What do I do?!!!!
Thanx Again!

Hi BruinsFan,

Not to worry - When that screen comes up again select "Region 1".

It has nothing to do with DVD Decrypter and it doesn't go outside of your PC.

It is rare but there are times when it comes up, don't let it bother you. I've had maybe 10 DVD's that have done it to me out of over 800 discs. Where ever the disc is from (whatever it's Region), DVD Shrink isn't sure what it should do with the files it sees. When you say, "Hey Dummy, this RCE is from Region, 1,2 or 3 (or wherever), try that region." Then when DVD Shrink trys that RCE Region, it works and all is fine. At this point, when the burning begins, it will make the backup region, Region-Free.

As I said, just give it the correct answer. It will then try what you give it and if the answer is correct, then everything will go ahead as usual.

Burn on my friend, burn on . . . .

Cheers,

Pete

I use nero for burning software. How do you mean memory from your hard drive? I think you mean does your PC use lots of resources when burning? Yes it does! I.e. do not expect your PC to do anything else whilst burning. Turn off all programs you don't need, turn off anti-virus, don't multitask, or you will end up with a coaster

Do you mean virtual memory in computer properties? this should not effect burning. Slow reading & burning can be down to DMA (direct memory access) not enabled in device manager.

A coaster is a dud dvd copy. It's only use is as a coaster for cups & glasses, to protect your dinner table getting damaged from heat rings etc!

I thought a coaster was
- a person who hangs out on the coast?
- what you do when you let off the gas pedal in your car?
- a big friken' ride at the theme park?
- a singing group?
- what you do to just get by (in school for example)?

LMAO :-) Why don't we call them frisbee's that would be funer. Anyways that is what mine becomes right away when I find out it's bad when I sling it across the room!! :-) They work good as mirrors too. :-)

It is amazing the damage a carefully thrown dud copy can do to your wallpaper & plaster. My room has the odd scar from the bad old days!!
