sorry for the newbie question, but i bought my pc off someone who didn't exactly know what they had. my pc has a cd rom and a dvd rom, but i'm trying to figure out if i need to buy a dvd burner.

thanks in advance for any help

Download Nero, select 'Get System Info'. That would tell you most detailed info. about your drives, and of course, your system.

You can download this little program for free

Its called CD Info tool it will tell you all you need to know about your drives. It is much smaller and easier to use than Nero info tool. It does exactly what you want to do..
