what do i need to have?
it says i need aspi installed on win32. is that some kind of xp fix?

might be a noob question but i dont feel like tryin tons of crap to get it workin

Alternatively, moving your mouse pointer to the top of the page, finding search box and typing in ASPI would have helped.

Use this free Plextor utility. It's good enough if you just want write speed and manufacturer info:
http://www.plextor.be/download/ftp1/CDVDInfo.zip

Of course, if you had Nero 6, just use the CD-DVD Speed Utility.
