Hi there,
I'm kind of new to burning DVD's. I made a DVD ISO with Nero 6 which contains important files such as word files, pictures, movies etc as i wiped my hard drive. However, now that i want to copy the files back to my freshly wiped hard drive, they don't work. The files copy perfectly, but nothing will open. My word files don't open, nor my pictures or movies. They're virtually unreadable. What can I do to restore theses files and copy them to my hard drive! Thanks a million'

so when you wiped your harddrive, did you reinstall all of your programs like Word and stuff. Cause if you have .doc files on your computer, but not Microsoft Word, then you prolly won't be able to open them.

YEs ,i did, everything was reinstalled. But when you open the files with word, they're not recognized. And you can't even preview the pictures. It says "no preview" for every picture. Now i was just wondering if some decryption process had to take place in order to read the files? Thanks for replying

I'm wondering if you had done something like created the iso file and then created a second iso file of the first? Twice-ISO perhaps? But probably the sizes of the files would be obviously different. Could you pick a small file and post it for me to inspect?

yes, that's what i did. I draged the files to be burned as a DVD ISO on Nero. Any ideas on how i can read the files? Like i can browse the DVD, the files are there but when i click on them they simply bring up messages such as "unknown format"! I don't know what to do!

You should have saved it on a standered CD, DVD's are for video files, where as a CD is for data (word docs ect...) Thats an error on your part and I think they are lost. But hey, maybe it will play in your DVD player.. just kidden dont try it...

Actually, if you:
Open word click:
File Open
Then click the file, it might work.. It sounds like you are tring to open it from 'My Computer', open it from word.
