I just installed a dvd burner on my puter...When i put in a music cd it works fine...When I put in a dvd i see picture but no sound any thoughts?

its a plextor 712a burner and I am running windows xp

all cables are hooked up HELLLPPPPP

We need a bit more information -

LQQk, here's a list, fill in as much as you can - it's all very important -

This is an example of the type of information we need is:

Explain step by step what you're doing and with what proggys and what were you doing OR how far did you get before you became stuck ?

What guide OR guides were you using ?

Where did the files come from and what format are they in, Bin/Cue, AVI, VCD, SVCD, MPEG2, MPEG 2 DVD compatible, ISO or VOB's ?

What do you want to do with the above files ? i.e Play them on your PC ? Mount them on a virtual drive ? Burn them to CD's, DVDs ?

What are your PC's specifications ?

Up-to-date drivers ? Up-to-date Firmware ? Do you have a working ASPI layer ? Proper jumper configuration ?

ASPI Checker ?

Drives internal ? Are you using a primary and secondary IDE cable and if you are, which is your burner on ? What setting are you using for them on your IDE cable, is the burner set as a master OR slave ? What transfer mode is burner set at, DMA or PIO mode ? Up-to-date drivers ? Up-to-date Firmware ? Do you have a working ASPI layer ? Proper jumper configuration ?

What media are you using ? (Of major importance if you're having any trouble at all burning.)

With the proper information we can eliminate many possibilities.

Provide us with as much of the above information as you can that has a direct application to your project (no matter what you were doing, almost all of the requested information may have a direct bearing upon it.)
