Hi mka, how have you been ?
Working with The Bourne Supremacy you'll find that message with DVD Shrink and recode 2 - This requires a rip using DVD Decrypter. Normally I like ripping in the ISO mode BUT this isn't that hard a DVD so I ripped it in the file mode. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO, Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems.
I had no problem at all when doing it this way -
Cheers,
Pete

I tried this, and it still won't work. I use DVD Decrypter to burn. Some of your directions were kind of confusing, when you mean tick, does it mean to check those boxes? And like some settings, Remove PUO's is that both boxes?

Hi, Pete
I have been doing ok until now. How have you been?
I was going thru and making the changes but I have a question?
Under "File Mode" "tick" Remove PUO's
Which 1 do I tick IFO/BUP PUO's or VOB PUO's
and also under "ISO READ MODE"
Which 1 do I tick IFO/BUP PUO's or VOB PUO's
Thanks and nice speaking with you again, I await your excellent help.

You need to change the compression type for the unreferenced file ( see my post)
Click the unreferenced file on the left side.
Change the compression type to STILLS under the compression well on the right side.
Click BACKUP.
That should do it.

Jerry, won't that ruin whatever the extras are?

mka,
Leave the VOB PUO's alone - just remove IFO/BUP PUO's. I didn't want to mess with anything dealing with the VOB files.
Cheers,
Pete
Welcome to aD there IRCRomeo,
To answer your question, Yes, you'll no longer have the "extras" in any form at all.
I suggest that you go to Compression and set it to Custom Ratio then slide the compression bar to the left for maximum compression. It will lessen the strain on the main movie but you will have all your extras intact.
Cheers,
Pete

Reboot your PC to kind of "Clear it out". Then use DVD Decrypter with the new settings.
There's no reason it shouldn't work -

But I just change the setting's in dvd decrypt correct?

I get the same error as Mkaone, though mine has extra words. It says:
DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Programming error exception occurred.
The handle is invalid.
This usually pops up during that "running man scene". Sometimes it gets past this but then crashes at the end of the process.
I did reauthor and that worked for the main movie.

mka,
Use those settings all the time --
Guys,
AFA the Bourne Supremacy, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and one or two others - In "Unreferenced materials" in title 1 menus, there is a "Boy" running (in green shorts too). Sometimes DVD Shrink gets through it sometimes not -
If you are stuck, then go to that Unreferenced section - Go to "Compression" select "Custom Ratio" then select "Still image" then try DVD Shrink again, it should slide right on through, like a hot knife through tender Turkey ?
Iffin you don't want to do that then use the new DVD Decrypter settings -
Pete

What exactly does the stills thing do? Doesn't it ruin whatever folder you change it to?

Gee, IRCRomeo, that's a pretty knowledgeable post, have you decided to read a guide yet ? ?

Romeo:
I'm not sure, but I THINK what it does it copies that file as pictures onto your DVD. What happens when you try to view it on your DVD player is tricky. One my DVD player on my PC, it won't get past this; I have to skip the chapter and it works. On my home theater TOSHIBA DVD it just skips it automatically and jumps right to the opening menu. Why? I have no idea. I still haven't seen the whole movie ( wife wants to watch Brad Pitt but she's busy....)

Hi. I am new to this forum having just signed up this morning. I got an Empirex dual format burner a few weeks ago and my cousin showed me the basics of using Shrink. I read through all the stuff regarding problems with Bourne 2, and did anyone figure out a sure-fire method that works? I loaded DVD43 and AnyDVD in conjunction with Shrink and can't get it to work - same error as everyone else. I got the film written to my hard drive with DVD Decripter, but I don't know how to burn it with Nero. I know it's a basic newbie question, but how to I do this?

In a follow-up question, can I write the disc to my hard drive, return it, and burn it at another time? Or do I still need the original disk during the burn? I also forgot to mention that even though I have a dual-layer burner, I am burning single-layer media (cost factor for now).

Never mind. I figured it out (simply by browsing around and reading other posts in other forums here at afterdawn). Once the files are on the HD, "burn and return." At your leisure, open the files in shrink, and let it compress and burn with Nero like before. Thanks anyway.

Hi cjnuxoll, welcome to aD,
By reading on your own you've already made friends here at aD.
To make things easier, the answer to your Bourne question is a couple of posts before yours (It pays to read the thread you're posting too -)
Here's a guide, about 1/2 way down the page that will give you good results -

Cheers,
Pete
