egmfan1,

I suggest that you download the new DVDD. It was released Jan. 5th and will take care of bourne AND Little Black Book. Rip with DVDD in the "File" MODE to a pre-made folder named VIDEO_TS. Just like that, all in CAPS. Then pickup with DVD Shrink by using "Open Files". AFA I Robot, As Flip said, it can be done with AnyDVD OR DVD Decrypter and CloneDVD2 OR DVD Shrink.

Cheers,

Pete :)

I have the newest version of DVDD but when I try it with that, after a while it just seems to stop at a certain percentage and the "time till done" or whatever thing says like 60 hours. I haven't seen any "running men" though. Not even sure what that means.

A few "ScubaPete" suggestions for troublesome rips -

If you are using DVD Shrink, let's not consider it a problem just quite yet -

There are rare occasions that DVD Shrink has a bit "O" trouble with an encryption. When that happens I run DVD Decrypter in the "ISO" "Read" "Mode". When DVD Decrypter is finished, I snatch up the image by opening DVD Shrink, going to "File" then "Open Disc Image" and continue processing as usual.

I like using the "ISO" approach as it takes everything exactly as it is on the "Mother disc" with, IMHO, less of a chance of corrupting or losing a little bitty, tiny, weenie, yellow polka-dot file-y to the "Aliens" that seem to come from nowhere and mess up my absolutely perfectly good day - (Ya know what I mean ?) :)

Failing that - - - Here's a few Helpful Hints:

For starters you can do the following:

1. Thoroughly clean the disc you are about to copy with alcohol and a soft cloth.

2. Begin playing your DVD on your PC's Power DVD or other player. Play for about 2 OR 3 minutes then start your ripping program. Continue to play the DVD until the ripping begins - then turn your player off.

Should you have problems with DVD Shrink, try ripping with DVD Decrypter. We're going to rip this "Puppy" in the "file" mode. You can also adjust Decrypter under Tools, settings, File, to remove PUO's - this works on some nasty discs.

DVD Decrypter can handle even the toughest of encryptions - Don't ever give up on DVD Decrypter, try the following little "adjustments" -

Step 1. In DVD Decrypter, go to "Tools", "Settings", and then whatever you're using either the File Mode tab OR the ISO Read Mode tab and "tick" "Remove PUO's" - try either the IFO, BUP, PUO's OR the VOB PUO's

Step 2. In DVD Decrypter, go to "Tools", "Settings", General tab, on the bottom left it will say "Removal Method" choose "Aggressive".

Step 3. in DVD Decrypter, go to "Tools", "Settings" then choose the CSS tab, under CSS Cracking Method, mark the spot that says "Brute Force -> I/O Exchange".

These "adjustments to DVD Decrypter should "Crack" just about everything out there today - :)

The Newest DVD Decrypter (released Jan. 05, 05) is the one you should have - Here's the link:

http://www.dvddecrypter.com/

Lastly, you can try ripping with SmartRipper.

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/smartripper.cfm

Sometimes it just needs a different crack-smith :P)
If your files are in a VIDEO_TS folder just capture them using DVD Shrink's "Open Files" and off you go :)

IF your files are just in a "Lump", and you see VTS, VOB's IFO and BUP's files DO NOT WORRY, we're not in trouble AND we're almost there - Now I want you create a folder and we're going to name that folder "VIDEO_TS" written exactly like that, all in CAPS. Now that we've made that folder, we're going to gather all the loose files and place them into that VIDEO_TS folder. Once that's accomplished we can have our DVD Shrink grab them by using "Open files" - that should cover all of your bases -
When you have your files, if they're all in a VIDEO_TS folder, pick them up with either your CloneDVD2, DVD2One OR your DVD Shrink for processing :)

Cheers,

Pete

ScubaPete, you are THE man! Not only did those settings work on Decrypter for that disc, but also 3 others I was having trouble with (even tried SmartRipper and no go). Thanks!

Hey, hey there fine friend,

It's not time to leave just yet, hang out iffin you have the time, snoop around to some of the other forums, checkout the "Safety Valve", there's usually something in the "Wacko" category going on there - OR check out our forums on Digital Camcorders, Photography, Home Theater components, Games, p2p topics or even Cellular phones.

Always feel free to stop back here at "Newbie Central" and pickup a few more pointers or tricks to make your computer work a bit easier ?

(NO, somebody isn't coming by your house to type for you. He's booked up until June, 2009) I was suggesting something in the line of a shortcut we may have come up with (it happens from time to time) OR a new proggy you might want to try - Ya never know . . . .

We'll lQQk for you later, OK ?

Till then,

Sea Ya ~ ~ ~>

Pete :D)
