how exactly do i link them up. I know what to buy but i have xbox live and dont i connect in the ethernet port. If i do how do i connect the pc and the internet to my xbox.

Yes, connect them in the ethernet port, or if that port is being used, then buy a NIC/Ethernet card and plug it in there.

do i buy two cards(one for the computer, and one for the xbox)and two more cables. Also is it just more ethernet cable that i buy or a different kind
