Sometimes when I copy a DVD using shrink, my DVD drive will start making a clicking noise and then the read speed will start to decrease rapidly or it will just freeze. The actual program doesn't freeze, just the speed. What is the problem?

If you ever do a defrag right after you rip a DVD, you'll notice the files are in red (all fragmented). Your hard drive is searching for the files and they are all over your hard drive. Defrag first if you want to speed things up. Or it could just be that your hard drive is about to die (if it clicks all the time).
