if ritek skips then its not the write speed but the media.

i was having probs with ritekG04 4X with gta etc

changed to +R and fixed everything

all ps2's are different so try different media youd be surprised at the difference

winning do any of your backups skip using maxell dvd+r's? I have yet to try and dvd+r's in my ps2 but I guess I will be.

psx5587, from what I have read doesn't sony just brand some other manufacturer's dvd-r media? Tried some kodak dvd-r and they where prodisc03 or something like this, in any event skipped in menus and some games would not boot up.... So far, verbatim datalife plus dvd-r 2x or 4x written at either speed has resulted in flawless playback.

I had also tried tdk dvd-r armor 2x, much more expensive compared to the verbatim and no difference in playback, both are perfect.

I hadn't even thought of checking the manufacturer I.D of the 1-4x verbatim datalife plus dvd-r I have been using.

manufacturer I.D MCC 01RG20 for the verbatim 4x datalife plus dvd-r and it turns out some sony (as well as a few other brand's)dvd-r are the same disc with the azo dye. I noticed there where also tdk dvd-r made by the same company(Mitsubishi Chemical Media] with differing codes but also employed the azo dye...
