sounds like your ps2 cant read +r discs. if that is the case, the only thing you can do is use -r or get a new ps2.

I have no mod-chip or anything. These are burned movies. Do I need a mod chip to play DVD+Rs on playstation 2 V4?

do these movies play in other dvd players? If so, your ps2 CANT read +r discs. Your only hope would be to try high quality media like verbatim datalife plus.

I have the v4 ps2 as well and all I ever burn is ritek dvd+r's at 4x.

the best thing to check is if other dvd players can play it...if so then your ps2 should be able to play it as well. It is also worth getting the upgrade that comes with the ps2 remote from Sony. It certainly can't hurt...

If all burned media has a hard time playing on your ps2 then it might be a laser adjust issue. Very few people seem to go this route, but once I started developing problems like this I eventually did a laser adjust and now I am running perfectly smooth again. Just my 2 cents...

Here is a good link to walk through the steps to adjusting the laser. This isn't the exact one I used but it looks even better than that one. I found it in one of the old threads going around AD.

It took me some tweaking a few times to get the right mix. If you go too far it may not play on certain media because the laser is too close or too far away. Most importantly, make sure you clearly mark the spot of the original position so you have the reference point to go back to. Hope everything works out...
