My X-Box freezes in the middle of games

My x-box freezes in the middle of games and movies, and won't start back up unles I let it sit for a while.
I took of the top of x-box and it seams to work fine not once freezing up on me. It seams to me that it is geting hot and shutting down. Does any one know what could be causing that? and or what i could do for extra cooling?

um well its getting to hot thats for sure.....check the fan, clean out all dust and um if u want u can buy faster better fans off the net (im sure i have seen them somewhere)

Microsoft uses really cheap hardware, and as a result, some xboxes may not have good quality parts. You can't send it back to MS because you opened it, so the only suggestion I have is to buy another fan.

Maybe is because is in a close area maybe if you put it in an open area were it can get more air and you don't have to buy a fan.

Or if you have a modded xbox, you can edit the bios to control fanspeed.

yes some bios's do but u run the risk of burning out the fan if you play the xbox to long.
