Hi. Fisrt, I apologize if this is a dumb question. But as my teacher used to say, there are no dumb questions except the ones that aren't asked :-)
I have a bunch of .avi files that I am attempting to join together into one big .avi file (so that I can then convert it to MPEG-2, so I can make an SVCD).
I've been able to join 3 files together using VirtualDubMod [1.5.10.1] and save it as a new avi file. (Note: I have VirtualDub and Nandub available, but I'm using VirtualDubMod because it can handle VBR MP3 audio streams.)

But when appending the 4th file, I get the following error: "Cannot append segment 23: audio streams hav different sampling rates (16,000 vs 15,963)"
["AVICodec" indentifies the Audio as "127 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, MPEG Layer-3"]
Of course, this minor sampling rate difference is very annoying. What can I do to work around or fix this?
My first choice would be:
Put file "23" into some program that allows me to resample the audio stream up to 16000 bps without having to split the video from the audio, then re-save as a Divx 5 file.
Alternative, I guess, would be:
Use some program to split audio file from video file.
Use some other program to resample MP3.
Use some other program to re-join video and audio into a new Divx 5 file.
(man, I hope I don't have to do that)
Or is there something I'm missing? Can I turn a bunch of avi's into a VCD or SVCD without having to combine them all first? Is it possible to convert them to MPEG-2 individually, then join all the MPEG-2 files together before burning? (or use them as chapters?)
if the video is in seperate episodes why join them ?
you can batch encode.
nero > drag and drop them as seperate files.
nero will see them as seperate chapter.

I haven't used Nero in a while; are you recommending that I use the Nero 6.6 Ultra Edition? I've read that I no longer need the "Nero MPEG2 plugin" in order to turn avi into mpeg for vcd or svcd..
Have you used the latest Nero?
Can you do all you need to right in the "Burning Rom" application? Know any good "Nero 6 for Dummies" guides :-)
(Just trying to benefit from other's experience! )
Let's say I was trying to do it with some of the older applications.... If Nero didn't exist (or I'm doing this after my trial period ends), how would I solve the problem above?

This brings me back to the original question...
In the case of the mixed format Divx files, think I should encode each file seperately to MPEG-2 first (using TMPGEnc), then use Nero to burn them to a CD as chapters?
