Upgrade from NVE2 to NVE3.0.1.14 now Sloooow burn

I am new to DVD coaster production.
I have made 5 successful DVD's from video captured off of satellite tv with my Haupaugge win-tv-pvr-250.
Longest successful attempt was a 1.5 hour capture.
I then tried to compile and burn 3 Christmas shows for the kids totalling 2 hours.
NVE2 was just exiting with no logged error or messages (as discussed in other thread), so I updated to the latest and greatest NVE3. Previous 1.5 hour burn project took around 1 hour and 45 minutes total time to produce DVD. Current project of approx 2 hours took 6 hours 20 minutes to produce DVD.

I remember NVE2 transcoding everything and then burning. NVE3 transcodes while burning.
Does NVE3 function that much different from NVE2?

Current project specs of one clip from VideoReDo are:
File Type: Program Stream Encoding: Mpeg2
Dimension: 720x480 Stream ID xE0
Display Size: 720x480 Aspect Ratio: 4/3
Frame Rate: 29.97 FPS Bit Rate: 4.000 Mbps
VBV_Buffer: 224 KB Profile: Main/Main
Progressive: Prog or Int Chroma: 4:2:0

Audio Stream
Stream ID: xC0 MPEG Layer: Layer 2
Bit Rate: 384 Kbps Sampling Rate: 4800 Hz



Media is Sony DVD+R 8x
Log file indicated an 8x burn rate.

Any suggestions on how to author faster would be appreciated.
Let me know if any more information is needed.
